The Prepared Motorcyclist

The stereotypical motorcyclist is the hardcore, former convict that wears all black with long hair and tons of facial hair while speaking in a very hard, gruff voice. However, we all know how ridiculous stereotypes can be and even though you wouldn’t think of a bike rider being someone who is consumed with preparation, you might be wrong. Any number of things can go wrong when you are riding a bike down the interstate or on the back, country roads; the best idea for you is to carry a few things to be prepared!

> If you are planning on being a frequent night rider then you may want to invest in a vest that is somewhat reflective so others can see you. This is also useful in the bright sunlight with some drivers who simply can’t see someone suddenly behind them in a smaller than usual image. > While you may feel like you are losing some of those “cool” points that you earned by having a bike in the first place by doing so, having ear plugs may save you some trauma later in life. Don’t let one of your essential senses be severely damaged because you were trying to prove something with your toughness. Get some earplugs and ride to your hearts content!> Having some form of communication and a roadside assistance plan or phone number would be in your best interest. You don’t want to be stranded on the side of the road because people are less likely to stop these days than ever before because of violence increasing in these situations.> The last thing that you want to have available to you when you are riding on your motorcycle is a kit to fix a flat and a kit to fix yourself, in other words, a first aid kit! Treating yourself might be needed during those long trips down the back roads of your hometown if you take a wrong turn.
