Taking Care of Your Motorcycle

Sure, the motorcycle enthusiast you have in your mind doesn’t seem to be the most prepared or genuinely concerned with personal care, but you could be dead wrong, stereotypes simply get us in trouble. Some motorcyclists take extreme care of their bikes, more care of their motorcycle than some people take care of their home or children! While you may not see this on the surface it is important for you to get in the routine of treating your bike like the fragile, but exciting piece of equipment that it is. Here are a few things to keep in mind with your bike.

* Purchasing a helmet extender could be one of the most important purchases of your life as you may save a bundle by doing so. By being able to lock your helmet to your bike you are reducing the chance of someone walking off with it or you taking it inside somewhere and forgetting it time after time. Your wallet will thank you for saving a bundle on not continually investing in new helmets!* Keep a tire gauge around to make sure that you are taking the calculated risk in your favor. Bad tire pressure in a car isn’t good, but on a motorcycle it can be flat out deadly with the slight turns or sudden stops.* If you don’t have a windshield on your bike it may help the overall appearance, but it won’t help you while driving the bike on long drives. This won’t keep the appearance up in any other way other than you losing concentration when a bug hits you in the face and losing control. But, isn’t that a good idea anyway?* You are crazy if you aren’t driving with some saddlebags or other packing equipment for any type of trip that goes any solid distance at all. You MUST have a lot of extra equipment to be prepared for the several problems that may arise during your drive and without good bags you will have some problems. Just make sure that they are comfortable enough for you to drive with before you drop a few dollars!
